If you do not possess something, do not become anxious for it, rather strive for it. Supreme happiness is found not in worldly possessions but in the remembrance of the Naam. If you perform good deeds today, your tomorrow will be good as well. God has given us this body to work and not to beg for a living. Selfless service of God’s creations is a treasure-trove of happiness. The company of a saint makes even a sinner a devotee. The company of a saint showers blessings on all equally, but a person assimilates only that much which is his spiritual capacity. The weakness of the soul is the root-cause of all sufferings. A person who is jealous and hateful burns from within like smoldering damp wood. Most of man’s worries are the result of his desires and aspirations. True knowledge and right actions are complementary to each other. When the soul is weak, tolerance is diminished. Neither man nor religion is bad; it is badness itself that is bad. It is only through meditation that the seed of God’s love sprouts in man. Intoxicants are to the body what termites are to wood. Not only selling the Naam but even buying it is a sin. The human birth is the first and last opportunity for man to attain to salvation. If there is no contentment, even the ruler of the three worlds is an unhappy person. God is realized through the sincerity of one’s devotion and not through offerings of money. Bad deeds bring destruction while good deeds bring prosperity. The money spent with one’s own hands in the welfare of God’s creations is true charity. The human birth is the only door to salvation in this world. Of what use is your high post if you cannot be of any help to others? Dera Sacha Sauda is a workshop where man is truly transformed into a man. The wealth earned through sin and cruelty to others is a snake that keeps injecting its poison of anxiety and restlessness. The company of a saint is a blessing of God. Erase jealousy and hatred from your being, otherwise it will erase the humanity in you. Man’s first and foremost duty is to practice devotion towards God. Egotism is the biggest obstacle in devotion to God. Religions preach harmony and not hatred. If you want to realize God, keep your conscience pure. Meditation in the morning is insurance for happiness throughout the day. Ill-gotten wealth is lost as easily as it is acquired. Hypocrisy never produces the urge within oneself to do good for others. The purpose of saints is to unite man with man and to unite man with God. God is inside everyone but only he realizes Him who has found a true saint. If you want to take, take His blessings; If you want to drink, drink the nectar of the Naam; If you want to speak, speak the truth; If you want to listen, listen to the cries of the needy. Without devotion to God, man leaves this world having spent his life in vain. Selfless service to God’s creations is true humanity. Those who adopt love and humility in their lives, they experience the happiness of heaven for every moment of their lives. If you are courteous and respectful towards all, God will become your refuge. You can talk to God through meditation. One should not pretend to be religious, but rather live its principles. All religious scriptures are witness to the fact that without the Satguru, a man’s life is a curse. The Satguru is the true companion of His disciple. The gates of hell are always open for those who feed on flesh. Non-violence is the highest religion, and it stands for not hurting another being by thought, word or deed. Harsh words and the sword can cut iron into pieces; Love is that which bonds the broken and heals the wounds of the heart. The true home of the soul is the Kingdom of God. Instead of talking ill of others, man should purify his own conscience. To love God’s creations is true worship. Humanity is the only religion; humanity is the only right action; all human beings are one; everything else is a delusion. God has created man; man has not created God. The offerings of money made to God turn to ashes on the altar of man’s selfishness. The vicious circle of accumulated sins can be ended only through meditating on the Naam. Saints conduct Satsangs to divert people from the delusional happiness of worldly attachments. Satsang is that place where the knowledge of the soul and God is imparted. God cannot be pleased through money or other materialistic offerings. God keeps far away from ritualistic and superstitious practices. Humility is not a weakness; humility is that powerful force in front of which the world’s greatest bow down. God does not look at whether a man is rich or poor; He looks for purity of devotion. The man who is hateful, jealous and talks ill of others dies many a time in his journey of life. The company of saints is never wasted. If a Satsangi associates himself with a bad person or a person who is driven by the mind, all the happiness that he has acquired is shattered to pieces. What right do you have to talk ill of others? Have you never done anything wrong yourself? Satsang is the holiest of pilgrimages. There cannot be a more powerful medicine than happiness and there cannot be a worse disease than misery and anxiety. Only the devotion that is guileless leads to the realization of God. Charity made to the undeserving is like seeds sown in barren land. The Naam is an elixir for the human soul. Satsang is the best means of leading a man on the right path. A person devoid of humaneness is like an animal. Even the food that is partaken while remembering the Naam is comparable to the nectar of immortality. Man does bad deeds because he abandons the fear of God. Men are sacrificing the human values gifted by God in the pursuit of worldly possessions. Only God’s love is true love and it is the most precious of gifts that a man can possess. People love the gifts more than the Giver. Doing good and being egoistic about it is like bathing and then rolling in the mud. The food that is earned through hard work and rightful means affords man the blessings of peace and contentment. The Naam is the only link that connects the individual soul to God. The difference between life and death is as little as a breath of air. Life is worthless without selfless service to the Satguru. The realization of God is the true purpose of human birth. Only after abandoning egotism can one step into the street of true love. To recognize the Truth one needs to wash the dirt of bad deeds that has accumulated on the soul. Those who obey the Satguru’s teachings, they are never in want of anything in life. The Naam is the mine of all happiness. The Satsang has the power to destroy a man’s future bad karma. The Satsang is an invisible fortress that protects man from the enemy called mind. The spark of Ram Naam burns down all sins to ashes. The True Name of God has the power to transform a tyrant into a kind-hearted man and a pauper into a rich man. When it is earned through hard work, even dry bread is equivalent to the nectar of immortality. Ram Naam is one’s true saviour in both worlds. Man’s life becomes fragrant through selfless service and meditation. The love of God and egotism can never exist side by side. The mind has been intoxicated by evil to such an extent that even though God is omnipresent, man is unable to see him. God Himself walks into the homes of those who bow in humility. The same way that a patient has to trust the doctor and a passenger has to trust the driver, it is necessary that a man believes in the teachings of saints. The Naam is an effective remedy for all ailments. Remembrance of the Naam makes the impossible possible. Helping a sad person is true humanity. In this terrible age of degeneration, other than God there is none who is worthy of trust. Those who lay thorns for others, the same thorns become tridents for them in the future. One can unravel all the mysteries of creation through meditation. The knowledge of the purpose of life and human values is gained at the Satsang. The wealth that is earned by hurting others is poison. The person who does not obey the teachings of saints is deprived of the love of God. Meditation on the Naam is the remedy for all miseries and the mine of all happiness. Meditation can reduce a mountain of bad karma to a pebble. To cause suffering to others for one’s own comforts is a great sin. The money earned from sin and cruelty to others robs one of all happiness. Fleecing people in the name of God is the worst of crimes. Where there is no egotism, there surely is God. If a saint utters something out of his own free will, it has to come true sooner or later. If there is something that God does not like very much, it is egotism. Without contentment man can never find any kind of happiness. When the medicine of Ram Naam is given to the eyes, the veil of ignorance is lifted. Naam is the road that delivers man to God. The devotion that is done with sincerity results in abundant blessings. Instead of talking ill of others, do away with the bad qualities that are there inside you. Always speak politely. Those who use harsh words can succeed neither in the spiritual world nor in any worldly pursuit. Neither can one put a price on Naam nor can one pay the price. The time that you spend in selfless service, if it is done in the right spirit and if you keep doing a little bit of remembrance alongside, you shall receive abundant happiness. When a man moves away from the Satsang, the negative effects of the world cloud his mind. This is why saints repeatedly ask man to implement what is taught in the Satsang. In this terrible age of degeneration man would never know when the mind begins to gain control over him. This is why one should never listen to the mind and always listen to the voice of the soul and conscience and continuously spend one’s time in selfless service and remembrance. Man can stoop down to any extent in his lust or wealth. Such a man has no scruples and he is destined for nothing more than hardship and suffering in both worlds. Oh Satguru! Let there not even be a single moment in my life where I do not remember you, where I do not behold you, as that moment would be like the Kaliyug for me. Whatever is there in the external universe is also present inside you, but only he who explores his self discovers this treasure. Man takes on himself the colour of the company that he keeps. If a man stays in bad company, then its effect on him will also be bad. All religions say that in this age of degeneration if there is any means of salvation, it is the Naam. Daughters are in no way inferior to sons. If they are educated in the proper manner, they are sure to bring laurels to their parents. The strength to fight the mind comes from Ram Naam and devotion to God. To realize God it is necessary that one has a strong and sincere yearning for it. Only he escapes the mind and Kaal who has lost himself in the love of God. Man should be pure both from inside and outside. Purify your motives and thoughts. While listening to a Satsang if man recognizes his shortcomings and decides to remove them, then God surely helps him. Man should stay away from egotism and bad company while practicing remembrance of the Naam. When man begins to let go of his humility and modesty, the love of God also begins to fly away from him. Being able to listen to a Satsang is a very big achievement and its merits are added to the account of the soul. Man does not have the capacity to judge as to who is good and who is bad. If he wants to judge, let him be the judge of his own good and bad thoughts. Saints say that man should chant the Name of Om, Hari, Allah, Waheguru, Khuda, because only devotion to Him can give man happiness. No matter how important one’s worldly duties are, there can be nothing more important in this world than the Satsang. One would never know when one’s destiny would change in the Satsang. Destiny is altered in the Satsang; the answers to all questions are found in the Satsang. Most fortunate are the men who love Om, Hari, Allah, Ram and who stay committed to His path till their last breath, and whom God himself carries in His lap to His Kingdom. If you earn your bread through honesty and hard work, you will find the supreme happiness; otherwise even if you earn in millions, without peace of mind, of what use is the money? Contentment is the basis of happiness. Those who talk ill of others are driven by the mind and not by the Guru. Such people are considered foolish in religion. And such people experience hell in both worlds. The Naam is such a powerful tonic that it can awaken the dormant humaneness in man and help him realize Bhagwan, Allah, Waheguru, Ram. God is a friend who stands by you at all times and at all places, whether it be happiness or misery. Meditation on the Naam is the only remedy that frees you from the vicious circle of births and deaths. God cannot be realized by making a show of devotion or by talking of it. If you want to realize God and become worthy of his grace and blessings, then put into practice the teachings of saints. Selfless service, meditation and Satsang are the ornaments of every Satsangi. If man practices the remembrance of the Naam in a non-stop manner, then God becomes his own. Then he would not need to pray to God to fulfill his genuine needs; God takes care of them even before he asks. If someone tries to create distances or obstacles between a man and God, such a person unwittingly becomes the bearer of sins. If a man wants to tread the path of love of God, he should destroy his egotism. When egotism is erased from inside man, then all his relationships, all his celebrations, all his happiness become dependent on God. Such a person suffers no misery nor does he go mad with happiness. In other words, he becomes a balanced person. If you want to attain to the supreme happiness while living in this world, then practice selfless service and meditation, and help the poor and the needy. If you meditate on the Naam in the early hours of the morning, the whole of your day will pass by in happiness. Those who chant the Naam become free of all miseries, pains and problems. Those who are overwhelmed by anxieties and miseries, the remedy to all their problems is Ram Naam. Satsang is the best of actions; it is the best of religions; and it is the world’s greatest hospital, school and workshop, all in one, where good men are made. Every religion teaches that one should not talk ill of anyone. Those who talk ill of others are driven by the mind and not by the Guru. Such people are described as fools in religion and they suffer in hell in this world and the next. God has given man the power to realize the Owner of both worlds if he wants to. No other species is capable of this. Man indulges in gossip and backbiting with such enthusiasm that even great orators may find it difficult to match up to him. If the same enthusiasm is directed towards God, maybe He would be forced to come running to him. So what if a man does not possess the riches of this world? The treasure of love is such that it never diminishes in this world or the next. There can be no God without meditation on His Naam. God’s love is true love – that which is untainted by selfishness. If a man practices selfless service and meditation, all his miseries, anxieties and problems go away. Happiness comes into man’s life only when he implements the teachings of the Guru. And the Guru says, “Chant the Naam of God.” The individual soul prays to God, “Oh Satguru! Let your love and remembrance be always fresh in my heart and mind!” Oh man! If your heart and mind is cleaned of the dirt of evil and washed of impure thoughts, then your God will surely show Himself to you! Fortunate souls do not dwell on anything but Ram Naam. Without the fear of God there can never be faith and belief in Him. If there is fear of God, you are bound to find happiness and the respect of the children of God. Ram Naam strengthens man’s confidence and he discovers the true happiness in living. Man should practice devotion to God at all times; while he is walking, while he is at rest, while he is at work, etc. As much time as he spends in the remembrance of God, as much happiness does he receive.
